if you hadn't figured it out, I am a HUGE nerd for all things nerdy, geeky and 90'S. I also LOVE cosplay, but it can be spendy. Luckily, I have lots of leftover borrowed costumes, thrift store finds and random odds and ends in my studio that I can normally fake a good look.
We started Budget Cosplay Sunday in October to see if we could find a use for some of the leftovers from our fantasy web series. In that time we've produced our own Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Vegeta (Dragonball Z), Jessie & Lestat (Queen of the Damned), April O'Neil & Casey Jones (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Lydia (Beetlejuice). I've gotten to the point where I want to take on larger budget cosplay projects and I realized I would need to recruit!
I knew that I had everything I would need for a Wednesday & Morticia Addams shoot, and I knew the perfect location: Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery in Portland. Now I just needed models!
I became acquainted with Madi when we met on the set of Black Grove in January, a film that a mutual friend of ours is producing. (Check out my blog from January to see behind-the-scenes)
I knew she had the perfect look for Wednesday and I think she pulled it off beautifully.
I posted in a couple of Facebook photography/model/casting groups looking for another model and that's where I encountered Samantha. Her makeup skills are *on point* and I knew she had the right look for Morticia. Would you believe that this was her first photo shoot ever?
Lone Fir Cemetery has this great old crypt that makes a really good stand-in for the Addams Mansion, and the rest of the graveyard is the perfect setting---creepy, kooky and spooky.
We'll be back to spooky cosplay next month at Sauvie's Island when we create our own version of the Lost Boys. Stay tuned for more!
